Some Questions...

First of all, a "HELLO!!!!!!" to everyone... I have been busy and have not had the time to blog, though I do occasionally check out what's going on with everyone else.

Secondly, I had a few questions...

For those of you that get things sent to you by other bloggers, did you previously give them your address, or is it posted somewhere... ? (I was thinking of sending someone something)

Also, what is a "pay it forward" swap?

Thanks in advance everyone!

  1. Hello to you, too! First of all, I never post my address on the 'net--who knows what kind of creepers are lurking out there among honest mini enthusiasts. If you or a fellow artisan is not 100% comfortable with exchanging a home or work address then renting a P.O. Box is not a bad idea.

I have no idea what a "pay it forward" swap is but Minikat mentioned it on her blog today...

    Hope this helps :)

  2. Generally when someone wants to send something, we email privately to exchange addresses. It helps that the mini community is fairly tight knit. The first person who wanted to send me something happened to be friends with a real life friend of mine. So it was less nerve wracking.

I personally keep the addresses of my blog friends once I get them so I can send trinkets whenever something else seems to fit a project they are working on.

A "Pay It Forward" is sort of a swap... The first person announces that they are going to make a gift for the first (random number) of people who reply to their post. They give a length of time in which they will get the gifts made and sent. Emails are used to get contact info. The only "catch" is the recipients must make the same offer on their blog. The first person does not get anything from their recipients (unless they reply to the recipients' posts which is rare). The price of the gifts is to keep the joy spreading as far as you can send it. :-)

I played with Michelle at Boulderneigh (a fiber person and shepherdess) and the only person to reply to my Pay It Forward was Maia of Maia's Twinkle Minis. After a few days of no one noticing her playing the game, I replied to her post and it turned into an actual swap between the two of us. It usually doesn't work that way though.

It was a lot of fun and I plan on doing another one once things with the hubby and kitty calm down. :-)

    Does that help?

  4. I really enjoyed participating in the "Pay it forward" project that Mini Kat described to you! In my case, there were 5 people who responded even though not everyone had a blog. At that moment, my blog was new but I think that when you have followers, this would catch on quickly and it's a lot of fun!

Addresses were sent privately, I also feel more comfortable like this.

I send out lots of packages to other bloggers, but always axchange addresses through email.
